Our office was established with one main focus, and that was to walk alongside the people in this community, helping them to achieve the highest level of health and wellness possible. As a doctor of chiropractic, the way we see the world of health care is through the lens of “wellness.” Wellness, as it relates to health care, is a paradigm that says, “An Ounce Of Prevention, Is Truly Worth A Pound Of Cure.” I understand that this is a cliche, but it is indeed true – and never more so then as it relates to your health. Here’s why, pain is typically the last thing to show up and the first thing to go away in the caring for health conditions. Therefore, the presence (or absence) of pain is rarely related to tissue healing. Research suggests that the healing of the supportive tissues of the spine (mainly muscles and ligaments) continues well after the pain is gone. Without getting technical, think of it like this. You’ve just had major surgery. You wake up in recovery, and you have an IV drip of morphine. The tissues that have been operated on are certainly not healed, but you are definitely feeling no pain! If you tried to get up and move around, you would be at risk of re-injuring those healing tissues. Make sense? It’s the same thing with your neck or back pain. Take the time to follow through on your doctors recommended care program. In the end, it will save you time, money, help you prevent re-injuries, and will lead you down your path to living the wellness lifestyle.
