Children's Home Society

Children s Home Society, located in Sioux Falls, S.D., provides homes, schools and therapies for children of ages four to 13 years who suffer emotional and behavioral problems or are victims of abuse and neglect. The institution s assessment components include medical examination, psychiatric evaluation, psychological evaluation, educational testing, abuse assessment, recreational assessment, family assessment, social assessment, and speech and language screening. The children are kept in a planned environment that creates a therapeutic atmosphere for troubled children. The facility is a coordinated effort by counselors, teachers, cooks, custodians, nurses, secretaries, night counselors and volunteers. The staff focuses on enhancing the self-worth of the children.
