Established in 1969 in Beverly Hills, CA, Alberto's Ristorante opened for business. But the story began years earlier. Alberto Pagliari came to Los Angeles from Milan, Italy where he worked with his uncle Ernest Vignati, who happened to be the owner of one of LA's best known restaurants at that time, the Piccadilly Restaurant on Los Angeles' famed restaurant row on La Cienega Blvd. Under the tutelage of Uncle Ernest and Executive Chef Angelo Colombano, Alberto was provided with the best possible experience and training in every facet of the restaurant business. With the retirement of Ernest, he opened Alberto's Ristorante on Melrose Ave. in Beverly Hills in 1969. Upon opening, the restaurant was an immediate success. Alberto gathered a loving and loyal clientele who would return week after week; Beverly Hills residents, many celebrities, dignitaries and travelers from all over the world. For 27 years Alberto's Ristorante was a staple located on Melrose Ave. winning countless awards from the Restaurant Writers Association, including the "Pioneer Award" for 25 years of excellence. Alberto insists on quality. Every entree is prepared to order. The fish is fresh. The finest white veal is personally selected. The cannelloni, gnocchi, manicotti and ravioli is homemade. Also on the menu are Alberto's famous signature dishes; Chicken Pappagallo and Veal Garibaldi. The Osso Buco is arguably "the greatest in the world" as many patrons have put it. In 1980 at the urging of many customers who had homes in the greater Palm Springs area, Alberto opened his second location in Rancho Mirage, CA. It is known as the best kept secret in the desert because of its hidden location. Although the Los Angeles restaurant closed its doors in 1996, the Rancho Mirage location (now run by Alberto's son Robert Pagliari) remains very popular to local residents and international celebrities.
