Mr. Elihu Brayboy and his wife of 35 years Carolyn Brayboy have created a labor of love in honor of his late mother, Mrs. Mary Brayboy Jones. Mrs Jones was a very talented woman, not only was she a nurse at Mercy and Bayfront Hospitals during segregation, but she was also employed by Eckerd College Student Medical Center. Mrs. Brayboy Jones was born in Louisiana, where she first learned to cook Creole style from her own mother. Later she catered to celebrity musicians where she showcased the authenticity of New Orleans savory flavors in her cooking. She had a history of giving back to the community. That legacy continues as Elihu and Carolyn unveil their tribute to Mrs. Brayboy Jones.... The all new \u201CChiefs\u201D Creole Cafe, which opened in her honor November, 1 2014. The \u201Cchief\u201D in the restaurant\u2019s name refers to Mrs. Brayboy Jones' positive outlook on life, tenacity and perseverance. The Brayboys welcome St. Petersburg, Florida residents, visitors and Tampa Bay Community to experience the ambiance, taste the Creole flavors and enjoy a good meal, in good company. The restaurant is open Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Chief\u2019s Creole Cafe owners and staff are looking forward to making your acquaintance soon! Reservations are encouraged, but not required. Lunch is 11-4 PM and Dinner is 4-9 PM Tuesday thru Saturday, Dinner all day Sunday.
