Since its founding in 1972 by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gaylord, Catholic Human Services has provided mental health, substance abuse, prevention, pregnancy counseling, open adoption, social services and senior services to more than 25,000 people annually in Michigan. The organization s alcohol and drug programs include adolescent and adult counseling, including individual outpatient counseling and family and group therapy, screening and assessment services, alcohol highway safety education classes, and abuse offense programs. Many of these classes include a victim s impact panel, and it also offers after care groups sessions for chemically addicted clients who have completed outpatient and residential treatment and wish to continue to learn and grow in their recovery. Catholic Human Services also offers pregnancy counseling, domestic infant adoption education, home studies, placement oversight, support, international home studies and supervision, and search and reunion assistance programs. The organization additionally offers employee assistance, abuse prevention, family and gerontological services. Catholic Human Services is located in Alpena, Mich.
