Wintzell's Oyster House

Wintzell s Oyster House is a Mobile, Ala., seafood restaurant that originated in 1938. A landmark on Dauphin Street in the historic area of the city, Wintzell s is famous for its fresh Gulf seafood and its founder s homespun sayings posted throughout the interior. It features raw and cooked oysters in a variety of menu choices. It also has a wide selection of other seafood choices, as well as catfish, chicken, hamburgers, salads, side dishes, desserts and beverages. The restaurant was named in "Willard Scott s All-American Cookbook" for the best oysters and crabs. The restaurant is owned by the SouthernPointe Group. In addition to the original Dauphin Street location, the restaurant operates in west Mobile on Airport Road and Fairhope and Saraland, Ala.
