The Cottage Cafe began in 1935 by a local construction firm known as J.J. Masterson & Sons. Masterson quickly realized that he was no "restaurant man" and hired Mary Hawthorne to manage the Cottage in 1938. Mary did a remarkable job and began the legend of homemade pies, soups and goo-ole" American food. It was once said: "We cannot really own the Cottage, we are simply caretakers." Someday, we will be gone, but the Cottage will remain. A haven for hungry travelers, families and working people from all parts of the country. Ben and Wanda Goldie, Current proprietors.
