The oven used by Smoky Hearth Pizza Company was inspired by the first owners. Mark & Bonnie Gritsch are the current owners. Mark & Bonnie literally stumbled into this business. The Sandy Community deserves much credit to our success for all of their support, they have become our new family.
Our Smoky Hearth oven facts graciously provided by the previous owners Don & Jeanine Hokanson; the oven weighs over 6300 pounds. The hearth is comprised of Baker's Tiles imported from France. The incredible mass of the oven creates a reserve of heat that cooks a pizza from the top and the bottom in half the time of typical pizza ovens. This produces a superior crust and complete cooking of the pizza  no more doughy centers! The custom blend of hardwoods has been specially selected to enhance the flavors of the meats and vegetables providing a wonderful pizza experience. We give all of the credit for our custom made oven to the previous owners Don & Jeanine
