Yu Martial Arts

We strongly believe that Martial Arts is for Everyone! Yu Martial Arts is a traditional school taught by a true Master. With locations in Canton and Simsbury and convenient to Avon, Granby, Torrington, and the rest of the Farmington Valley, we offer Taekwondo, Judo, and Hapkido to students of all ages. We are eager to teach anyone who comes ready to learn. Don't fall into the trap of thinking all martial arts are like the MMA, UFC, and jiujitsu you see on tv. Contrary to most expectations, punching, kicking, throwing, and grappling are not the main goal of martial arts. These techniques are meant to serve as a last resort for the rare instances when respect, confidence, self-discipline, and awareness of your surroundings have not prevented a dangerous situation from finding you. You will discover that the time invested in learning these moves will serve to improve that respect, confidence, self-discipline, and awareness, which will in turn remove you from nearly all of those dangerous situations. Our firm hope is that none of our students will ever need to use our teachings to defend themselves, but that the techniques will be waiting for you to call upon them in case you ever do. In the meantime, you will continuously reap the benefits of your training as you increase your focus and concentration, release your stress, enhance your flexibility, and control your weight.
